Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
Galectin3, Galectin 3, Galectin-3, Galactoside binding protein, GALBP, GAL3 , GAL 3, GAL-3, Galactose-specific lectin 3, Laminin-binding protein, MAC 2 antigen, MAC2, Lectin L-29, L-34 galactoside-binding lectin
Lectins are carbohydrate binding proteins that interact with glycoprotein and glycolipids on the surface of animal cells. The Galectins are lectins that recognize and interact with beta-galactoside moieties. Galectin-3 regulates a number of biological processes, including embryogenesis, inflammatory responses, cell progression and metastasis. Galectin-3 can function intracellularly in controlling cell cycle and preventing T-cell apoptosis, and also extracellularly, in activating various cells, including monocytes/macrophages, mast cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. Human Galectin-3 is a globular 26.0 kDa protein containing 250 amino acid residues.

Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
30 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti-human Galectin-3 polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blot analysis (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually.
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
