Highlights
Biotinylated BSA is used as a control in biotin estimation procedures and as a competitive inhibitor for anti-biotin antibodies. It has 3 moles of biotin/mole of BSA. It is provided as a 2 mg/ml solution in 50 mM Na2HPO4, 100 mM NaCl pH 7.5.
Description
Biotinylated BSA is synthesized through biotinylation of BSA with Sulfo-NHS-LC-Biotin (Cat # 2326). It has 3 moles biotin/mole of BSA as determined by Biovision’s Biotin Estimation Kit, Catalog # K811-50, 100. It can be used as a positive control in biotin estimation procedures and as a competitive inhibitor for anti-biotin antibodies.

Properties
Biotin conjugates can be detected by horseradish peroxidase, alkaline phosphatase substrates or anti biotin conjugated antibodies. Avidin and Streptavidin bind to the small biotin and are couple to HRP or AP for ELISA. To break the streptavidin Biotin bond we suggest to use a 6 molar guanidine HCl solution with acidity of pH 1.6.

Biotinylated
