The MBD family of proteins includes MeCP2, MBD1, MBD2, MBD3 and MBD4. MBD1 (methyl-CpG binding domain protein 1) binds to methylated CpG sites and represses gene transcription. MBD1 is recruited to both methylated and non-methylated CpGs by separate domains: the CXXC domain targets the protein to non-methylated CpGs whereas the MBD domain targets the protein to methylated CpG. MBD1 may also interact with histone methyltransferase SETDB1 to repress transcription.

100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti- MBD1 polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, 5 mM EDTA and 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blot analysis (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Cross activity to perforin of other species has not been determined.

How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
