Target of this antibody:
Setd1b
Alternative names of antibody target:
SET1B, KMT2G
Background information:
SETD1B (UniProt/Swiss-Prot entry Q9UPS6) is a component of the SET1 histone methyltransferase (HMT) complex. This complex specifically methylates lysine 4 of histone H3, but only if the neighboring lysine 9 residue is not yet methylated. Methylation of H3K4 represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation. SETD1B shows a non-overlapping localization with SETD1A, suggesting that both proteins play a specific role in the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression.

Description
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.

About
Polyclonals can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues. The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera.
