Target
CD71 /TFRC /TFR
Background
CD antigen CD71 is also known as Transferrin receptor protein 1, TfR, sTfR, p90, TfR1, Trfr, which belongs to the peptidase M28 family and M28B subfamily. CD71 /TFR contains one PA (protease associated) domain. CD71 / TfR1 is required for iron delivery from transferrin to cells. CD71 is a potential new target in cases of human leukemia & lymphoma. CD71 /TFRC / TfR has been shown to interact with GABARAP and HFE.

Molecular weight
This protein is fused with 6×His tag at the N-terminus, has a calculated MW of 76 kDa. The predicted N-terminus is Cys 89. DTT-reduced Protein migrates as 80-85 kDa due to glycosylation.

Biological activity
Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized rhCD71/TFR at 10 μg/ml (100 μl/well) can bind human Transferrin. The EC50 of human Transferrin is 6.4 ng/ml.

Physical properties
Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Generally 5-8% Mannitol or trehalose is added as a protectant before lyophilization.
How to reconstitute
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 µg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C.

Properties
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
