Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
Cyclooxygenase 2, PTGS2, PHS-2, COX-2, hCox-2 , PGHS-2, PGG/HS, COX2, EC 220.127.116.11
COX proteins are membrane-associated heme proteins that have cyclooxygenase and peroxidase activities. These enzymes are targets of NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drμgs) such as aspirin. Prostaglandins (PGs) formed by the enzymatic activity of COX-1 are primarily involved in the regulation of homeostatic functions throμghout the body, whereas PGs formed by COX-2 primarily mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. COX-1 is constitutively expressed, with particularly high expression in gastrointestinal tissues. COX-2 is induced by cytokines and mitogens and is likely to play a role in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Clonality of antibody:
This antibody reacts with:
Synthetic peptide mapping to the C-terminus of human Cox-2
Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, and 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes 66 kDa human Cox-2. It does not cross-react with Cox-1. Jurkat cell lysate (Cat.# 2401-100) can be used as a positive control.
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
