Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
HME; MME ,Matrix metalloproteinase
The matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are a family of peptidase enzymes responsible for the degradation of extracellular matrix components, including collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin and proteoglycan. Transcription of MMP genes is differentially activated by phorbol ester, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB). MMP catalysis requires both calcium and zinc. MMP-12 (also designated macrophage metalloelastase) is produced in alveolar macrophages and degrades elastin. MMP-12 may contribute to elastin degradation occurring in granulomatous skin diseases and may also participate in macrophage migration throμgh the epidermal and vascular basement membranes in inflammatory disorders.
Clonality of antibody:
This antibody reacts with:
Synthetic peptide surrounding amino acid 460 of human MMP-12
Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
100 µg (0.2 mg/ml) protein A purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 50% glycerol, 1% BSA, and 0.02% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blotting (1-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes a ~50 kDa band from samples of human origin. Reactivity to other species has not been tested. Jurkat cell lysate (Cat.# 2401-100) can be used as a positive control.
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
