Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
Galaptin, Galectin1 , DKFZp686E23103
Galectins are a family of soluble β-galactoside-binding animal lectins that modulate cell-to-cell and cell-to-ECM interactions, as well as apoptosis. Galectin-1 has the ability to induce apoptosis of activated T-cells and T-leukaemia cell lines. Other activities include cell differentiation and inhibition activity of CD45 protein phosphatase activity. Galectin also binds beta-galactoside as well as CD45, CD3 and CD4. Human Galectin is a 14.5 kDa protein consisting of 134 amino acid residues.
Clonality of antibody:

Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
100 µg (0.5mg/ml) antigen affinity purified rabbit anti-human Galectin-1 polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.1% BSA, and 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blot and Immunohistochemistry
Western blotting (0.5 – 2.0 µg/ml) and Immunohistochemistry (5 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually.
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
