Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
BCL2 interacting killer, Apoptosis inducer NBK, BIP 1, BIP, bik
BIK is a member of Pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. Althoμgh Bik lacks Bcl-2 homologus region, BH1 and BH2, BIK interacts with Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL. BIK has been shown to induce apoptosis by activating caspase-9.
Clonality of antibody:
This antibody reacts with:
Human, mouse, rat
Synthetic peptide mapping to N-terminus of human BIK
Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) Protein A affinity purified rabbit anti-BIK polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blotting (2-6 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Jurkat cell lysate (Cat.# 2401-100), mouse small intestine (Cat.# 2601-100) and rat kidney (Cat.# 2702-100) can be used as positive controls. The antibody detects a ~17 kDa BIK in samples from human, mouse, and rat origins. A ~15 kDa cleavage fragment can also be detected
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
