Target of this antibody:
Alternative names of antibody target:
Autophagy protein 5, APG5-like , Apoptosis-specific protein, autophagy protein, atg5, atg-5, apg5, apg-5
Autophagy, the process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins throμgh an autophagosomic-lysosomal pathway is important for normal growth control and may be defective in tumor cells. It is involved in the preservation of cellular nutrients under starvation conditions as well as the normal turnover of cytosolic components. An ubiquitin like conjμgation system is involve in the formation of autophagosome where by Atg12 is covanletly bound to Apg5/ATG5. The conjμgation is mediated by the ubiquitin-E1-like enzyme Atg7 and thE2-like enzyme Atg10.
Clonality of antibody:
This antibody reacts with:
Human, mouse, rat, pig, bovine
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding amino acid 226 of rat Apg5
Concentration of antibody:
Form of antibody:
Formulation of this antibody:
100 µg (0.5mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.01% thimerosal.
This antibody has been succesfully tested for use in following methods:
Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes ~37 kDa Apg5/Atg5 from samples of human, mouse and rat origins. Reactivity to other species has not been tested.
Shelf time: 12 months in temp.: -20 deg.C
How to handle this antibody:
The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
