Biological activity
Biovision’s Procathepsin S can be auto-catalytically activated to mature Cathepsin S (~24 kDa) by adding an equal volume of 0.2 M NaOAc, 5 mM EDTA pH 4.0 containing fresh 5 mM DTT at room temperature (RT). The enzyme is fully activated within 2-3 hrs. of incubation at RT. After activation mature Cathepsin S is highly auto-proteolytic and care must be taken to avoid self-proteolysis.

Properties
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
