Description
Lamotrigine is an inhibitor of voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav), blocking human Nav1.2, Nav1.5, and Nav1.8 with IC₅₀ values of 10, 62, and 96 μM, respectively. Also blocks heterologously expressed and native α4β2 nAChRs with a similar affinity to Na+ channels. Lamotrigine acts as an anticonvulsant and has applications in many diseases that feature seizures, including epilepsy and autism spectrum disorder.
